First Lady Sundays Introduces Vina Poole
In a world where most women are constantly struggling to maintain the balance of "acting like a lady, but thinking like a man," there are still some who are able to preserve their feminine allure while effortlessly capturing the attention of even the busiest of male entrepreneurs. Many times, these types of women fly under our radar, choosing to pull the strings from behind the scenes rather than screaming their accomplishments to the world, and why would they need to to? Their talent and work speaks for itself.Detroit-based record label, Muzik 4 Life Entertainment is proud to boast such a woman in their business manager, Vina Poole. Throughout M4L's history, the team has landed features and collaborations with some of Detroit's hottest and most talked about artists and deejays including P8tience (signed to Obie Trice's label), DJ TJ (rapper Jay Electronica's deejay) and Nikki Brown (of popular hip hop female duo, Dueces Wild), but it wasn't until Vina signed on, that the business side of the label began to emerge and turn a profit. Her short stint with the M4L has seen the erection of a recording studio, performances at various venues around the city, and increased publicity and networking for the entire team, but this is only a small portion of Vina's attributes. She is also a skilled audio engineer and writer who only takes a break from her love for music and entrepreneurship to spend time with her two school-aged sons. Meeting Vina was truly a joy and blessing for me, and once I was introduced to her huge accomplishments and even huger personality, I couldn't wait to speak with her. Check out my interview with Vina Poole, business manager of M4L Entertainment after the jump....

First Ladies: DOLLHOUSE
I LOVE THESE GIRLS!!! They're just so dang cute LOL!!
So in browsing YouTube a couple weeks ago, I came across a new girl group straight out of...you guessed it....THAT'S RIGHT THEY'RE FROM DETROIT!!! Adding to the endless supply of talent Detroit keeps pumping out, I would like to introduce the Alius Magazine audience to "DOLLHOUSE"!!!!
Originally signed to the label, LiveTMG out of Detroit, Dollhouse is made up of three 16-year-old girls. Their image is fun and flirty, and on top of all that, these girls can blow. When I heard their medley of SWV, Nicki Minaj, and Beyonce songs on YouTube, I just about died. Their harmonies are so precise and fluent...and frankly, they just look great together. So great that these uber talented young ladies were recently signed with SRC/Universal and have been given the industry nod from top artists such as Ne-Yo.
Please, stop by their YouTube channel, WeAreDollhouse, when u get a chance or follow them on Twitter @WeAreDollhouse. Also, keep an eye out for their next single "Never Be Me." Enjoy!
We are sure to see great things from these beautiful and talented young ladies!

PAID THE COST TO BE THE BO$$
Throughout the past few months, the Alius Team has tried our absolute best to stay current and also to keep the Alius reading audience current on the female musical talent in the city of Detroit. You've read about sexy female lyricist, June Bug and the talented and soultry songstress, Shay Lewis, but where would Detroit's musical talent be without the influence of artists who have come before them??
With that said, I would LOVE to take this time to spotlight a founding mother of the rap game here in Detroit. If you have never heard of BO$$, BABY YOU BETTER ASK SOMEBODY!!! Read more after the jump.....

FIRST LADY SUNDAYS INTRODUCES "SHAY LEWIS"

Every so often, you come across a person that is so beautiful in spirit that it makes you smile from the inside out….someone whose aura and disposition is so unbelievably warm that it changes the energy in the entire atmosphere around you. This past week, I had the pleasure of interviewing such a person. With that said, I am beyond excited to introduce the Alius Magazine audience to the beautiful and talented songstress and songwriter, Shay Lewis.
When I sat down to interview Shay last week, I had to admit I was nervous. In doing my research on her, I had already listened to many of her incredible covers on YouTube, including a beautifully belted out version of Jazmine Sullivan’s hit, “Holding You Down (Goin In Circles)” which boasts an incredible 10,237 views. I had also listened to a few of the originals she has written and performed, and I just knew that with the immense talent and diverse musical presence Shay possessed, she would be some sort of new age diva. I am pleased and relieved to say that I was completely wrong.
At 9:00 p.m. on the dot, when Shay answered the phone for our interview, she was so bubbly and full of life. Her voice rose as she greeted me, welcoming me into her world. I could hear her smiling through the phone, maybe just as nervous as I was and also just as anxious to get the interview started. We broke the ice with a lengthy greeting, and although it was our first time talking, Shay and I spent the first five minutes of the conversation chatting like old friends. She laughed at my jokes, and I at hers, and when I remembered the purpose of my phone call, I was almost disappointed. Nevertheless, I opened up my notepad and prepared to expose the real Shay Lewis to the world. I began with my routine questions.

FIRST LADY SUNDAYS INTRODUCES "JUNE BUG"

Last Wednesday, I had the immense musical pleasure of attending the Raw Talent Showcase, put on by the up and coming rap group, Yo Competition, with the purpose of exposing equally new and aspiring Detroit talent. Upon walking into the venue which is appropriately titled “Jams”, I was immediately thrust into a feeling of nostalgia. Tucked between two high rises near Capitol
Park (Griswold/Grand River), Jams is a small night club with just enough character to make one feel like they are an extra in a freestyle scene of the movie, 8 mile but also with just enough class to demand the respect of its performers and patrons.
In the midst of the buzz of various musical acts and entertainers, one brave soul stood out. Hosting the event, June Bug, dubbed the First Lady of Yo Competition, was fashionable in a curve-hugging, piano-print mini dress and 6-inch red pumps. Confident and coy, we all looked on as June charismatically announced each act from the hilarious comedian, G. Paige to the high-powered dance quartet, Audacity to the soft spoken but yet hard-hitting poetess, Bree, and finally when June Bug took the stage to perform, the audience was completely silent, waiting to see what this unique young lady had to offer.
Dressed in black metallic leggings and a midriff-baring Varsity jacket embroidered with the “Planet Rego” logo, June Bug danced into the limelight effortlessly capturing the crowd with every move. Before she had even opened her mouth, the audience had already begun to cheer as June wowed us all, seductively twirling across the stage in to-die-for stiletto ankle boots with the skill of a trained hip hop dancer and throwing her hair in rhythm to the beat. She was definitely
in the moment and had brought us all along for the ride. June Bug performed “What You Want, What You Need,” a sexy upbeat single that had all of the men in the room on their feet, and also “Goin In,” an aggressive soon-to-be hit that truly showed off June’s lyrical prowess. Sweating and glowing, June thanked her audience for their participation before finally sitting down with me for just a few moments while the crowd was
thinning.
“I’m ready for you,” she smiled in between “good jobs” and pats on the back from excited showcase patrons. Even her male group members, who had also just performed phenomenally, couldn’t resist coming up to June Bug and complimenting her on her on job well done. She laughed humbly and graciously thanked everyone and then with the skill of an artist who has done this before, turned to me and professionally asked me to go ahead with my questions. I began, anxious to ask the lady of the hour the questions that had been burning through my notepad.
