So like me, most of you have daily or even weekly primetime shows that you watch. You may rush home from a long day of work, a go-hard session at the gym or even a night out with your friends, just to catch up on your favorite television series. Watching this show relieves you. It gives you a moment of reprieve from the harsh reality of your day. Many times, it can even be the silver lining to what can sometimes be the dark cloud of your life.
Well, for the past two days, I have hurried home from the gym to watch two of my favorite television shows, and I was equally disappointed on both Sunday and Monday nights! Let's start with Sunday.....

Like 5.6 million other viewers on Sunday night, I plopped down on my couch to watch one of my favorite satirical cartoon comedies, "Family Guy." I love "Family Guy, and with that said, I appreciate the fact that the creators of the show don't take themselves very seriously and can always find some humor in ANY and EVERY situation. This weekend, however, it seems that Detroit took its' turn as the butt of yet another of Seth MacFarlane's jokes.
During a segment of the show, television news anchorman, Tom Tucker, announced that Detroit had officially "given up." (LOL!) According to Tucker, the mayor of Detroit had given the key to the city back to the Huron Indian Tribe!
Now being an avid "Family Guy" fan, it would be hypocritcal for me to say that I was upset about the joke, but it definitely did sting a little as a native Detroiter who understands and is being affected firsthand by the financial crisis that our city is enduring. See clip below.
Moving on to Monday night with my weekly dose of reality T.V. I know there aren't many fellas that watch "Basketball Wives," but I'm sure my ladies caught the shade that Jennifer Williams, ex-wife of former NBA small forward, Eric Williams, threw at our fair city. Jennifer and fellow castmate, Suzie Ketcham, were discussing another castmate, Kenya Bell, who is most frugally working on a music video. Bell is a Detroit native and a former Miss Michigan USA. In lieu of this, Williams jokes that Bell should expect to pay more extravagant prices in New York City to produce her music video rather than the cheaper costs she may incur in her hometown. "This isn't Detroit! This is New York!" Jennifer laughs. "We don't drink kool-aid!"
WHOOSAH!!! I am such a big fan of Jennifer Williams, but I took that snipe straight to the head. SMH!! Please check VH1's viewing times to catch Jen's rude outburst on our city.
As I said before, it definitely stings when we as a city don't get the respect that we deserve. Living here, I know the talent, intelligence and class that we produce, and it is a shame that the rest of the world fails to see it sometimes due to how Detroit has been portrayed in the media. However, all we can do is brush our shoulders off! C'est la vie! Que sera! Lol all that! Our city and its' citizens are working hard for a new dawn of success! It's been a long time coming! All of our haters will be congratulating in the very near future! SHOUTS OUT TO TOM TUCKER AND JEN WILLIAMS LOL!
